Case Knives: Antique or New?

If you are a knife collector, you probably know of the popular antique Case knives. Case knives have been made in the United States for over 100 years, and they are owned and loved by knife collectors everywhere. In fact, knife collecting in general is becoming a very popular hobby, with more and more people getting involved everyday. Knife collecting can be a very enjoyable and lucrative pastime because although it is easy to buy knives cheaply, holding on to them until they are antique and no longer made can be a great investment and a wonderful heirloom to pass on to future generations.

The Investment of Antique Case Knives

The thing about antique Case knives is that they are so well made that they last for a very long time in good working condition. The only thing that changes about a case knife is possibly the look of the handle or the blade. However, this aged, antique look is actually a good quality because many knife collectors love the look of an old case knife, worn and used. In fact, there is currently a series of Case knives being made with antique bone handles that make the knives appear as if they have been carried in someone’s pocket, suffering daily wear and tear, for years.

If you are interested in getting involved with collecting antique Case knives, you can start by searching for and buying antique knives from dealers or places like eBay, or you can start building your own collection of new Case knives that will be antique in the future. If you do not have much extra money to spend, it is probably a good idea to start with new knives, letting them become antique over time, because you can buy new knives for anywhere from $20-$70, while antique knives cost considerably more. Because Case makes many different series of knives, each with different qualities and appearances, it is easy to build a varied collection of knives that will be worth a great deal of money in the future.
